Dr. Thomas Tubon is at Bluegrass Community and Technical College this week to present his awesome workshop, The Stem Cell Teacher Academy. This is the second day. Most all the participants are from local high schools in BCTC's service area, with a few exceptions. However, there is tremendous diversity amongst them:
One participant traveled all the way from Florida;
One has been on the cover of Sports Illustrated;
5 of the participants either have twin children or are a twin themselves;
One is a champion weight lifter;
One has taught in 5 different countries;
There is a married couple;
One has two children, ages 27 years and 3 years;
The longest teaching tenure is 22 years and the shortest is 2 years;
There is a pet turtle, several dogs and cats, and a bearded dragon.
Thanks to Bio-Link, AC2, Madison College, and NSF for helping fund this great opportunity for teachers in Kentucky (and Florida).
